Pycnogenol is an extract from the bark of the Maritime Pine. Pro-anthocyanidins (a subclass of the flavonoid family) is the main active ingredient of Pycnogenol. The first scientist to investigate the active properties of Pycnogenol was Dr. Jack Masquelier of the University of Bordeaux in France. His research began after studying some historical reports about an unknown ingredient, which came from the bark of the Maritime Pine and was successfully used by members of a research expedition. His research focused on Pycnogenol's naturally occurring proanthocyanidins, which have been shown to exhibit excellent antioxidant effects. Laboratory-invitro experiments proved that Pycnogenol has strong antioxidant properties similar to those displayed by vitamins C and E. As a consequence of his findings, Dr. Masquelier created the pine bark extraction process and was awarded for the discovery and definition of Pycnogenol as a free radical scavenger. Ingredients used in capsule: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Capsule Shell (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose), Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate. Digestion Time: Less than 30 minutes. Suitable for vegetarians. Allergies: none. Precautions : Should not be taken by pregnant or lactating women. Storage: Store in a cool and dry environment and protect from direct light.
