Tocopherols are a group of fat-soluble chemical compounds of similar chemical structure (homologous compounds) with strong antioxidant properties. They present multiple physiological actions and intake by the human body in small amounts through food is essential. Collectively, tocopherols are known as vitamin E and are found in vegetable oils and plant-based foods in general. Tocopherols are distinguished by the letters of the Greek alphabet: α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ and η. The most important of these is α tocopherol (d-alpha-tocopherol), as it is characterized by better absorption and bioavailability and with in this form the majority of clinical studies have been conducted. Vitamin E is one of the most important vitamins as it contributes* to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Lamberts VIT-E 250iu:
- Provides 250iu of naturally occurring vitamin E as it is produced from the seeds of the sunflower (natural vitamin E) in the form of 'd'-alpha tocopherol which is the most closely related to vitamin E obtained from food.
- It is in the form of an enteric capsule to achieve the maximum possible absorption from the intestine with the secretion of bile.
